Horchata [or-chata]
-noun
1. Extremely popular in Spain and Mexico, a cold beverage made by steeping nuts, grains or chufa in water. Usually lightly sweetened with sugar and sometimes spiced with cinnamon. They come in a wide variety of flavors.
2. Extremely popular in the Indie music scene, Vampire Weekend's first single from their highly anticipated sophomore album, Contra. The expected release date is January, 12, 2010.
(Much like the band's catalog of music thus far, "Horchata" paints an imaginative image from a pleasant memory. The beverage seemingly stimulates a nostalgic sensation for the band, whom return to the music scene with heavy hitting African inspired drumbeats laced with Ezra Koenig's sweet laced alto yelp, amid a harmony contrasting the overall tonality of the track.)
